Training and Continuing Professional Development

The experience and qualifications which I have accrued over the past twelve years have equipped me with a wide range of skills and a broad knowledge base.  I have been able to build on this further through the University of Exeter's Graduate School Generic Skills Training Programme, the University of Bath's Learning and Teaching Enhancement Office workshops and the extensive training provided by the Open University.  I am committed to continuing to reflect on my teaching practice and bolster my professional skills and knowledge, and have taken numerous short courses, workshops and lectures, covering areas such as: using assistive software, Moodle, Elluminate, interactive teaching, teaching small groups, supporting personal tutees, and supervising research projects.  I completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education at the University of Gloucestershire, earning a distinction for my work on this.

In addition to this, my experience as a performance poet has given me the opportunity to develop skills in performance, writing and teaching, which have proved to be readily adaptable to an academic environment.  You can read more about my poetry performances and publications on the Poetry page of this website.
